The Wall Street Journal commissioned to design this Great Smoky Mountains National Park map to accompany one of their autumn travel posts. The map needed to be modest in size but eye catching and show the places referenced in the accompanying text such as Pigeon Forge, Mount Le Conte, Grotto Falls, Cherokee and the infamous Tail of the Dragon Trail.
I used an autumnal palette to reflect the rich colours of the region at that time of year.

Other travels maps designed for editorial clients include the Road Trip maps I designed for Guardian Travel.
