The Balmoral Estate commissioned me to design a new visitor map that could be used on signage and visitor guides.
The brief was the new Balmoral visitor map should be:
- engaging to look at with a hand-drawn style and
- easy for users to navigate their way round the grounds.
AS part of the preparation for designing the map I undertook a site visit to Balmoral so I could get a feel for the grounds and take lots of reference photos.
The finished map highlights the key areas and buildings of the estate in an attractive and easy to understand way. The map is used on both estate signage and on the visitor tour leaflets. The tour version of the map is A3 in size and the larger, signage version is approximately 1 metre wide.
The client is very pleased with the final result and I have continued to work with the Balmoral Estate to extend and update the map.
