I am a designer & illustrator based in North Hampshire who specialises in creating illustrated maps.
My work is best described as expressive and colourful with lots of details & textures. Colours and patterns are important aspects in my work. I draw my inspiration from everyday objects & textures, architecture, the natural world, town & cityscapes and travelling.
While I have an accessible and hand-drawn style, the maps I design are firmly rooted in cartographic reality. I have a strong working background in mapping & cartography and since graduating from UCL I worked in academic research & private consultancy for 10 years before moving into professional independent design.
I launched my own design business in 2011 and since then my portfolio has grown to combine commissions for clients including the AA & the Londonist, Canal & River Trust, Port Lympne Wildlife Reserve, Tesco Magazine, Adnams Southwold, France Today, ABTA & Discover Britain Magazine with private commissions and my own retail designs. I also sell some of my designs wholesale through Serena Hall Gallery, Southwold.
I have excellent inter-personal & communication skills and can be relied on to get a job done to a high standard. I always listen to what my clients want & can cater for many different budgets. Previous commissions include tourist maps, site guides, route maps for walking tours & location maps as well as, private commissions for wedding and new home maps.

"From the beginning, Bek took on our specially commissioned map projects with enthusiasm. Even though the initial ideas we provided were a bit out there and not exactly anything she had done before, Bek fully grasped what we were hoping to achieve and worked with us to create two gorgeous pieces. We really appreciated Bek’s keen eye and expertise on layout, colour, printing, and size to help guide us in the process of having a custom map printed on a large canvas. Her flexibility allowed us to make multiple changes to our digital map as our needs changed throughout the artwork phase. We have received rave reviews and look forward to showcasing these works of art to our staff, students, and colleagues."

"Working with Bek has been a real pleasure. Canals and rivers aren’t like other forms of transport - they’re part route, part museum, part park and with over 100 miles in London alone they connect to almost everywhere! That’s why Bek’s maps are so special. With her patience, eye for detail and unique style she’s managed to distil the a huge amount of vital information into a beautiful but easy to read and use map that makes anyone viewing it immediately want to jump on a train and take a walk down a towpath. We’re now looking forward to working with Bek on some other waterways and we can’t recommend her skills highly enough."
Dick Vincent, Towpath Ranger, Canal & River Trust.
"Working with Bek on the development of a map for our holiday rental in Havana was a real pleasure! Bek got to grips with our requirements very quickly and understood the feel we wanted to create with the map. I only actually spoke to Bek on two occasions, everything else was done via email, which was great for me as the map development came at a very busy time. From the outset Bek was clear about time scales and she actually completed the work much quicker than anticipated. I absolutely love the map! The final product is even better than I had hoped for, I would wholeheartedly recommend Bek for her skill, professional and friendly approach, and ability to produce very high quality hand-drawn maps to timescale, at an affordable price."
